A Memory Cafe offers a place where people living with dementia and their caregivers can socialize and connect with others in similar situations.

Here at CMPL, we offer a short, themed learning experience followed by refreshments and time for chatting.

Winter dates and themes include:

  • January 5 @ the Main Library: Join us for our initial meeting with a performance from The Macombers, the Goodwill Ambassadors of Macomb Community College and Michigan’s Premier Collegiate Show Choir. The performance will be filled with songs from pop, jazz, Broadway, and choral genres. It will be an electrifying performance from the gifted and talented vocal students of Macomb!
  • February 2 @ South Branch: This month we’ll learn about the different types of work that therapy pets, service animals, and emotional support animals do. We’ll reminisce about pets we’ve had in the past, and enjoy a visit from Golden Retriever Nikki and other therapy dogs.
  • March 2 @ the Main Library: We’ll use watercolor paints and stencils to create springtime décor.
  • April 6 @ South Branch: Kim Parr of the Selinsky-Green farmhouse in Saint Clair Shores will share local history of the family who originally lived there and more as we talk about Macomb County in the mid-1800s.
