Please make your Red Cross Blood Drive appointment in advance by calling (586) 286-1768 or registering here. Walk-ins are permitted but not recommended. Masks are not required but are highly recommended. 

CMPL has been partnering with this blood drive for many years in order to reach a specific goal and help save lives annually. Donate at two CMPL locations: Main Library on Tues., Feb. 7, from 10:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and South Branch on Wed., Feb. 8, from 12:30 – 6:30 p.m. 

This is a Sickle Cell Initiative Blood drive! A note from the Red Cross: Sickle Cell disease affects about 1000,000 people – largely African Americans. 1 in 3 African American donors are a match for patients with Sickle Cell disease. African American donors are 3 times more likely to match the blood needed for sickle cell patients than donors who are not black. Today, less than half of the blood the Red Cross provides for patients with sickles cell is from African American blood donors and has the markers for the most compatible match for sickle cell needs. This means the Red cross can only provide optimal blood transfusion matches for sickle cell patients about 40% of the time. With the other 60%, the Red Cross provides the next best match available, often from donors with different ethnicities from the recipient, which may lead to adverse physical reactions. 

All donors who attempt to donate at participating blood drive locations will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win an iPad, a $50 gift card, and more from Clinton Township (winners will be notified with a phone call from CMPL). All donors who come to give blood through June 30, 2023, at select qualifying blood drives will receive a $20 Amazon.com Gift Card *by email courtesy of the Red Cross's partners at Amazon.* This email will come days to weeks after you donate to the Red Cross and will require further steps to be taken to obtain the Amazon gift card. Instructions will be provided in the email.
