Join us for ESL Book Discussion at the Main Library! Practice English through reading "Three Days in June" by Anne Tyler. This is designed for intermediate adult English learners.

"Three Day in June" by Anne Tyler is a a warm and humorous novel about family, marriage, and second chances. The story fallows Gail Baines as she navigates her daughter's wedding and unexpected visit from her ex-husband, and a surprising family secret. The book offers opportunities to build English vocabulary, discuss family and relationships, and practices speaking in a friendly and supportive group setting. 

Format: Hybrid ( in person at the Main Library Adult Program Room or online Via Zoom) 

Time: 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. 

Registration required. Zoom link will be emailed to all registrants.

Free copies of the books are available. Participants can pick up a copy at the Adult Nonfiction ( ANF) Desk at the end of August, any time during regular library hours. 

Program Schedule:

September: No class - Labor Day Holiday. Participants are encouraged to begin reading Part 1 of the book so they are ready for the October discussion. 

Monday, October 5 : Discussion of Parts 1 & 2 

Monday,  November 2 - Discussion of Part 3 

Monday, December 7 - Discussion of Part 4 and final discussion. 

Reading Plan: 

Part 1: pages 1-44 Read in September

Part 2: 45 - 88 - Read before the October discussion 

Part 3 : Pages 89 - 132 - Read before November discussion

Part 4: Pages 133 - 176 - Read before December discussion.
